Yoga
Yoga is an ancient philosophy, so old that we don't really know exactly how old it is. Around 300 BC, yoga was first mentioned in writings. Around 400 AD, yoga was first extensively explained in writing by the writer, mystic, and philosopher Patanjali.
Yoga is a Sanskrit word whose root has two meanings. The first meaning is "union" or "connection," and the second is "meditation" or "samadhi" (deep meditation).
The connection in the word yoga refers to the connection of everything within yourself (body, mind, breath, energy), as well as your connection with everything around you. The process of experiencing this connection is a personal journey, requiring different needs from everyone at every stage of life.
Such a state of connection can also be experienced during meditation.
Yoga originates from the Far East, the region now known as India. It has evolved over the centuries. One form is not superior to another; it has always been adapted to the people, cultures, zeitgeist, and spiritual insights of the time. Today, it is used as a blend of ancient, recycled ideas with more modern insights and exercises.
It is remarkable that the yoga I share with others did not begin with me, but from far away and through many people ultimately flows through me in a unique form to other people.
